Jhaptaal is an asymmetrical taal and one of the most common taals in north Indian (Hindustani) music.

Structure

Jhaptaal consists of four vibhags, switching between two and three matras in each vibhag. Jhaptaal has three talis and one khali, with khali coming on the third vibhag.
